WA distilleries among world's best
Two Western Australian distilleries are making their mark on the world stage, with Hippocampus Metropolitan Distillery and Limeburners both winning international awards this week.
Cameron Syme is a director of Latro Lawyers and founder of the Great Southern Distilling Company & the Margaret River Distilling Company.
In 2004, Mr Syme merged his love of whisky and his knowledge of business to establish the Great Southern Distilling Company. Prior to that, he worked for a multinational commercial law firm, had 10 years of experience as an accountant in Australia and the UK, and gained a UK Trades Board “General Certificate in Distilling”.
He is a foundation member and deputy chair of the Australian Distiller’s Association.
In 2022, Mr Syme was inducted into the Australian Whisky Awards Hall of Fame.
