Caley Catto was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2019, and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Western Australia. She represents clients charged with either minor or serious offences, ranging from serious assaults, sexual offences, and illicit drug offences, to traffic offences and restraining order matters. She has experience conducting a range of hearings in the Magistrates Court, including sentencing hearings and bail applications, and regularly briefs counsel on jury trials, indictable sentencings, and criminal appeals.
Ms Catto has appeared as junior counsel in various District Court jury trials alongside experienced counsel and senior counsel, and has developed skills in preparing complex matters for trial. She also has experience in negotiating with prosecuting authorities to have charges discontinued or downgraded.
In 2021, Ms Catto was listed by Doyle’s Guide as a Rising Star in Criminal Defence Law in Western Australia. In addition to criminal defence, she also advises and represents medical, dental, and allied health professionals in disciplinary proceedings, Ahpra investigations, and the defence of patient complaints.
Ms Catti is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Criminal Lawyers Association of Western Australia.
