Franchisors face fines
Franchise groups face fines of up to $51,000 for serious breaches of the Franchising Code of Conduct under draft reforms released today by the federal government.
Bruce Billson, a former politician, was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives representing the Division of Dunkley in Victoria from 1996 to 2016. Mr Billson was the Minister for Small Business from September 2013 to September 2015. From 2006 to 2007, he was Minister for Veterans' Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence in the Howard Government. In November 2015, Mr Billson announced he would retire from politics at the 2016 federal election.
In March 2021, Mr Billson was appointed an Ombudsman of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise.
