St Barbara recruits new CEO
Former Rio Tinto executive Bob Vassie has today been announced as the incoming managing director of ASX-listed gold miner St Barbara.
Bob Vassie is a mining engineer with over 35 years of international mining industry experience, including 18 years in a range of senior management roles with Rio Tinto followed by managing director and chief executive roles at Ivanhoe Australia and St Barbara.
Mr Vassie has particular experience in operations management, resource development strategy, mine planning, feasibility studies, business improvement, corporate restructuring and strategic procurement.
Mr Vassie was a board member of the Minerals Council of Australia from 2014 to 2020 where he chaired the MCA Gold Forum. He is also on the AusIMM Council for Diversity and Inclusion.
