Indigenous entrepreneur Dr Blaze Kwaymullina is a Palyku traditional owner from the eastern inland Pilbara region. He is an academic, writer, children's author and business owner.
Dr Kwaymullina was an academic for ten years with the University of Western Australia, as an Associate Dean of Teaching & Learning and Associate Dean of Research for the School of Indigenous Studies. He led the design of a new undergraduate major in Indigenous Knowledge, History and Heritage.
In 2012, Dr Kwaymullina had a career change and began working in the private sector in community engagement, cultural heritage and Native Title, before becoming a business owner and entrepreneur. His business Nuntirrpa is an Aboriginal engagement consultancy that seeks to close the gap of indigenous disadvantage through jobs, training and enterprise. Through his consulting business, Dr Kwaymullina is a co-founder and director of the North West Alliance, a fully incorporated joint venture with French multinational Veolia, chief family officer of his family investment business Emu Nest, and was co-founder and managing director of social enterprise Aboriginal Land Services which invests in the training and development of Traditional Owners.
