Barry House AM was the Liberal Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Council for South West Region from 1987 to 2017, including as president of the WA Legislative Council from 2009 to 2017.
Prior to entering politics, Mr House was a school teacher.
In 2019, Mr House was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the people and Parliament of Western Australia, and to the community of the South West.
In 2021, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Edith Cowan University which was rescinded later that year in light of his opposition to LGBT rights during his political career.
