Anthony Kannis PSM is the project director of the McGowan government’s Metronet public transport project. In February 2022, Mr Kannis was promoted to director general of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.
His previous role was executive director WA Police, which he held since May 2013. Prior to that, he spent nearly seven years as executive director of the department of treasury. In that role, he was a key member of a project steering committee that helped deliver the Mandurah rail line and the underground rail connection in the central business district.
Mr Kannis was also a board member of Infrastructure Australia for six years from 2008.
In 2022, Mr Kannis was awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service to transport and infrastructure reform, particularly through METRONET.
