EFFORTS to promote Broome as a year-round holiday destination, have been thwarted by the Kimberley’s notorious wet season again, higher fuel prices and distance.
BROOME’S expanding tourism industry will be well catered for in coming years with the development of two new resorts.
Property analysts are predicting a significant rise in Perth’s residential apartment prices as supply falls on the back of rising construction costs and a subsequent reluctance on behalf of developers to build.
Broome’s accommodation sector is basking in the strong market for tourism assets with new resorts opening their doors and several developers preparing to launch significant new projects.
Growing demand for quality apartments and resort-style living in Karratha is providing an increasingly lucrative niche for property developers and investors. The new developments contrast with both the large workers’ camps and suburban subdivisions, which dominate the Pilbara town.
Major progress is being made at one of the flagship sites at Elizabeth Quay.
Probuild has secured the state’s biggest building coup of 2016, with the national construction outfit understood to have been selected as developer Far East Consortium’s preferred contractor for the luxury Ritz-Carlton Hotel and The Towers at Elizabeth Quay.
This now-mobile group is a key driver in Perth’s reviving apartments market, making up 65 per cent of buyers.
Residents will start moving into Far East Consortium’s premium apartments project The Towers at Elizabeth Quay before the end of the month, with the Hong Kong-headquartered developer shifting focus to its Perth Hub at Perth City Link as its Ritz-Carlton Hotel also nears completion.
The developer behind Karratha's Best Western is planning to extend the resort and add workers’ accommodation, with a sustainability focus.
A nine-storey development in Como has been approved, with the developer proposing to build more than 100 apartments to offer affordable accommodation amid Perth's housing crisis.
The main players pin hopes on pent-up demand for new stock, as interest rates stabilise and buyers begin to accept higher prices.
