Efficiency key at Kwinana
The future of BP's Kwinana refinery lies in improving productivity as the Australian fuel market undergoes significant disruptions.
Andy Holmes has been with BP for 34 years, initially as a graduate engineer in the UK. Mr Holmes moved to BP's Australia office in 2010 and became chief operating officer of BP Fuels Asia Pacific & Air BP, and president of BP Australia and New Zealand, in August 2014. His career with BP included roles in the upstream, chemicals, refining, trading and supply businesses in China and Germany. Mr Holmes has also led the Rhine Fuels Value Chain and global fuels businesses Air BP and LPG. Highlights of Mr Holmes’ leadership in the Asia Pacific region include growing BP’s retail network by 25% in New Zealand, adding more than 50 new sites to the Australian network, increasing profitability in China by 50% and signing a new joint venture to expand BP’s retail presence in three new provinces.

Energy giant BP will hold onto its Perth bitumen business but will sell the rest in the country to Puma Energy for an undisclosed amount.
National engineering group UGL and WA-based bulk fuel distributor Great Southern Fuel Supplies have struck agreements with BP to operate and maintain some of the petroleum giant's facilities.
