Firefinch MD in abrupt exit
Firefinch managing director Michael Anderson has stepped down from his role with the Mali-focused gold miner with an update on the company’s performance and production guidance pending.

Andrew Taplin has over 30 years of leadership, strategic, operating, and large-scale infrastructure project experience across various commodities including iron ore, copper, gold, coal and phosphate. He has also worked extensively around the world including in Australia, Canada, USA and Africa.
Mr Taplin has been chief executive of Heavy Minerals since April 2023. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer of Firefinch in November 2020, and acting chief executive from June to October 2022. He was also the chief operating mining officer at BGC Contracting for almost 3 years, and spent 25 years with Rio Tinto in the minerals sector spanning mine, port and rail operations, mine & project development, studies and joint ventures.
