Pitt, Chester receive cabinet promotions
Nationals MPs Keith Pitt and Darren Chester have been elevated to federal cabinet in a ministerial reshuffle.
Andrew Gee is an Australian politician and a member of the National Party, representing the NSW Division of Calare since 2016.
He commenced practice as a solicitor and moved to Hong Kong where he spent three years licensing consumer products and promotions for international entertainment companies, in partnership with his family. Mr Gee returned to Australia in 1999 and became a barrister in 2003.
He moved to Orange in 2005 and became a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, representing Orange since 2011 until he resigned to run for federal politics. In February 2020, Mr Gee became the Minister for Decentralisation and Regional Education, and the Minister Assisting the Minister for Trade and Investment. In July 2021, Mr Gee picked up the veterans’ affairs and defence personnel portfolios following a leadership spill and the re-election of Barnaby Joyce as Nationals leader and deputy prime minister. In June 2022, following the Liberal Party's defeat at the federal election, Mr Gee became the Shadow Minister for Regional Health, Regional Education, Regional Development, Local Government & Territories in the Dutton shadow ministry.
