Millions of dollars in prospective fines cap off a tough year of bargaining for WA’s nurses’ union.
Amber-Jade Sanderson is a Labor Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for the electorate of Morley. Prior to that, she was a Member of the Legislative Council for the East Metropolitan Region from 2013 to 2017.
Following Labor's win in the 2021 state election, Ms Sanderson became the Minister for Environment, Climate Action and Commerce in the McGowan government. In the December 2021 cabinet reshuffle, Ms Sanderson became the Minister for Health & Mental Health.
Following the resignation of Mr McGowan in June 2023, Ms Sanderson kept the same portfolios as Minister for Health and Mental Health under the Cook government.
Prior to entering politics, Ms Sanderson was a media adviser for Carmen Lawrence (a federal MP), and a trade unionist. Her roles included assistant state secretary at the powerful United Voice (now United Workers Union).
