Alastair Morrison has more than 30 years of experience in mineral exploration and investment.
Mr Morrison is a founder and managing director of Standard Chartered Private Equity which he joined in April 2002, after 20 years at 3i Group (the leading European private equity house) where he was director for 3i Asia Pacific. He co-founded 3i’s Asia Pacific operations in 1997, having previously run an investment team in London focusing on buy-outs and expansion financing.
Mr Morrison worked for North Flinders Mines in the Northern Territory during the development of the +5 million-ounce Callie gold deposit. He then worked in Tanzania for East African Gold Mines during the exploration, development and construction of the North Mara Gold Project. He managed the exploration team that discovered the high-grade Gokona gold deposit.
For over 15 years, Mr Morrison was an analyst and investment manager for a private resource oriented investment fund and has been involved in several exploration ventures in South America, including as a consultant to Circum Pacific.
