Family officesFounded in 1965, McRae Investments is the family-owned investment and private equity company created by successful Australian businessman Harold Clough and his wife Margaret.
McRae Investments was from inception the holding company of the prominent and highly-successful Australian engineering company, Clough Ltd until its sale to Murray & Roberts. It initially sold 14% for $40m to Murray & Roberts in 2004 and then sold down its controlling stake for $30m in 2005. In 2007, in four different transactions worth a cumulative $64.6m, McRae completely sold out of Clough except for a minor holding.
