Maroomba Airlines is a Western Australian charter flight company. As well as servicing the mining industry, the company has operated the Hawker 850 XPi Jet for the Royal Flying Doctor Service since 2009. The aircraft, which has been branded as the Rio Tinto Life Flight Jet, is based at Maroomba Airlines terminal at Perth Airport. From there, it is on-call 24/7 to respond to life-threatening emergencies throughout WA and beyond. Under its agreement, Maroomba pilots operate the aircraft while the RFDS provide medical staff for the Jet. Supported by Rio Tinto Australia, the Rio Tinto Life Flight Jet is the only RFDS aero medical Jet in Australia. It has the capacity to carry three stretcher patients and two critical care teams, at speeds much faster than the current aircraft used by the RFDS.
Maroomba was established by Steve Young in 1985, and was acquired by Michael Ardagh and Phil Garcia in 2018.
