Klen International specialises in the manufacture and supply of fire assay fluxes to the mining and geochemical assay laboratory markets worldwide. It has become the largest manufacturer and supplier of Fire Assay Flux in the world.
Klen International became part of the VWR group based in USA in late 2012. VWR is a major supplier to the laboratory market.
The company's origins can be traced to Bunbury in 1971, where it focused on manufacturing of specialty detergents and sanitisers for the food and beverage processing industries. In 1984, the business was purchased by the Perth-based McGuire Corporation, also a producer of specialty detergents, as well as other products such as sealers and fertilisers which also went on to purchase the small manufacturing and trading operation CIC Chemicals. CIC was involved in the mining and assay industries and traded in commodities such as cyanide and manufactured fire assay flux and the supplies of fire assay consumables to the mining industry and assay laboratories.
In 1999, Klen International embarked on an aggressive expansion program to take its products to the world. In 2012, American-based VWR International was successful in acquiring the fire assay division of Klen.
In July 2014, Klen relocated to a new custom-built facility in Neerabup, Western Australia.
