ERG was a listed technology company which was a leader in automated ticketing systems for public transport in the 1990s. Formed in 1984 as Energy Research Australia, it was run by entrepreneur Peter Fogarty from 1985, it won several major international contracts but struggled with cost blowouts, delays and other implementation issues.
In 2009, investor Duncan Saville's Ingot Entities took control of ERG which had posted a net loss of $103 million for 2008, renamed it Videlli and delisted it.
