Since 1972 PDC has led the building information management (BIM) and detailing industries, being one of the first to utilise 3D and BIM for the detailing of steel structures. Using proprietary technology which has led the industry, these independent models and data are integrated and standardised to produce a single 3D model simulation of the entire structure. This integrated model contains complete information for all functional requirements of a project including procurement and logistics, financial modelling, claims and litigation, fabrication, construction support and asset management.
PDC BIM was founded in 2012 and provides Building Information Modelling and Asset Information Management services. In less than 3 years, the staff complement has grown from 6 to 47 employees and revenue has increased more than 600%. Their international projects include the Apple Campus 2 headquarters and Intel’s production facilities in the US, Ireland and Israel.
In October 2016, DBM Global Inc, a subsidiary of HC2 Holdings Inc, acquired the business information modelling and detailing businesses of the PDC Group. In November, a number of PDC subsidiaries were announced as having appointed liquidators.
PDC now operates as "a DBM Global company".
In 2021, DBM Vircon was awarded the Medium-Sized Business of the Year at the annual Business News RISE Business Awards.
