Australian Renewable Energy Hub
The Australian Renewable Energy Hub, formerly Asian Renewable Energy Hub, (AREH) is being developed by a consortium of global energy leaders, harnessing Western Australia’s abundant wind and solar resources, to export renewable energy to Indonesia and generate cheap clean power for the Pilbara region.
The AREH project site in the East Pilbara region in Western Australia has world class solar and wind resources. It will generate 11,000+ MW of renewable energy in Western Australia. 5,000+ MW will be dedicated to large energy users in the Pilbara region which could include new and expanded mines, downstream mineral processing, and the large scale production of hydrogen for domestic and export markets. 6,000 MW will be exported to South East Asia through undersea High Voltage DC transmission cables.
