Alstom is a major supplier of rolling stock, signalling and associated services for the rail industry throughout Australia. The company's history includes the manufacturing of diesel/electric locomotives in Brisbane in the 1940s and 1950s and the 1999 acquisition of the Ballarat workshop from the Victorian Government.
