Growing up, Justin was surrounded by art and design. After graduating from Scotch College in 2004, Justin was torn between a career in law or design. He decided to follow his passion for design and started Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Jewellery design at Curtin University in 2005. Alan, Justin’s father and founder of Linneys Jewellery, had never discussed Justin being involved in the family business so there was no pressure for Justin to join the company. Whilst studying at University, Justin started his own range of Men’s jewellery that was custom made to order and stocked at high end men’s fashion stores in Perth. After graduating, Alan discovered that Justin had advanced skills in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and subsequently offered Justin a position at Linneys to develop this cutting-edge manufacturing technology. Justin joined the family business in a sales and design role and quickly took on more responsibilities within the business as an Assistant Sales manager. During this time, Justin moved to California to become a Graduate Gemmologist at the Gemmological Institute of America, the most widely recognised gem certifying lab in the world, before returning back to Perth and taking over from his father Alan as Creative Director of Linneys. Within this role, Justin is responsible for the Creative Direction of the business from a marketing, PR and events perspective as well as managing the design team, the workshop team of jewellers and he oversees the production of Linneys jewellery collections.
