Shannon Bodeker has been working almost exclusively in family law since 1998. She established Bodekers Family Lawyers & Mediators in 2002 and is the legal practitioner director. Ms Bodeker is experienced in all areas of family law, particularly in child relocation, child custody and parenting arrangements, property settlement and child support. Ms Bodeker has been admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. She is a nationally accredited mediator, arbitrator and collaborative lawyer. Qualifications include Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Diploma of Teaching (Distinction), Bachelor of Education (Distinction), and Post Graduate Health Promotion (Distinction). Ms Bodeker has also acted as an independent children’s lawyer in the Family Court of Western Australia and the Children’s Court of Western Australia. She has also worked as a senior case officer with the Child Support Agency. Ms Bodeker is actively involved in legal issues surrounding same-sex relationships and has worked in same-sex family law matters for almost 20 years. She regularly undertakes advanced mediation and negotiation training through institutions such as Harvard University.
