Kawasaki Australia Pty Ltd a 100% owned subsidiary of Japan's Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Line) was established in 1970 to represent "K" Line's interest and business in Australia. The company originally operated as a regional office to promote "K" Line's shipping business of Container, Bulk and Car Carrier services.
In 1996, a new company, "K" Line (Australia) Pty Ltd, was established to take over the total shipping agency and operations of "K" Line at all ports in Australia. The new company opened with five offices at Melbourne (Head Office), Sydney (Kawasaki's Head Office), Fremantle, Brisbane and Adelaide.
"K" Line in Australia has initiated its direct involvement in a Total Logistic Solution as early as the 1980's through an investment and management of a vehicle processing and logistic company, Prixcar, which allows "K" Line Australia to provide a seamless operation of import and export vehicles from/to overseas ports. Such a value-added service ability is being expanded to the business of container shipments in conjunction with "K" Line's global network and a newly appointed team established within Australia.
